Very helpful, replaces many many hours of figuring out by myself, and pestering friends.

Thanks! Have watched the first 4. A nice intro.

I would have mentioned cat on only text files before executing the command. If not, then viewers will hesitate to keep pace or follow you closely. Give them the confidence to follow and stay close to all of your tutorials, especially when they are completely new to Linux/Command Line.

so riddle me this, why do 'cat' and 'more' exist? do they just predate the command 'less'?

thnx !!! i´m just i newbie and this tutorial is very very usefull.Congratulations Chris

Glad to see some help for those wanting to learn how to use the Unix shell. Thanks

Thank you for the time you devoted to this great series of tutorials. In my case, i'm learning some shell basics out of personnal interest only because i recently migrated to linux...and I have some free time! However i can imagine your videos might be usefull for professionals and students as well. Videos make it so much easier to learn. You're the kind of person that makes the web what it's great for: the ultimate knowledge machine! Thanks again. By the way, i'm a primary school teacher from France and it makes me all the more impressed by the clever way you take to bring your 'pupils' to knowledge.

PS: Virginia Tech... wish I had the brain to attend classes there...sniff

he he sir ,

you corrupt the terminal , then it alter that recording program and I think that what happened to give a noice near there.

anyway sir good video tutorial : you save me lot of time. Continue doing this.

The series seems to be cut up into pieces, but the pieces are way too short. I'd have liked it more as one whole, or perhaps longer segments. Nice series so far!

Showmedo is a peer-produced video-tutorials and screencasts site for free and open-source software (FOSS)- with the exception of some club videos, the large majority are free to watch and download.

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.

Kudos and Thanks for Chris
