in series: Introduction to Boa Constructor

video tutorial by cmpython, added 02/09

(Showmedo is undergoing major changes. To report any problems viewing the videos please email us and include browser and OS specifics. Cheers - Kyran.)

In this video I discuss Boa Constructor's Inspector in some detail. The Inspector allows one to easily examine (or "inspect") the objects in the GUI, and then change them. It also allows binding of events, and inspection of the object hierarchy.

Simple...

Awesome and directly to the point. I've been in python for a while and have just started to create interfaces and this gets me going into Boa Constructor in 30 minutes.

Still loving these videos. So helpful in getting up to speed quickly. This is the future (and present) of computer assisted learning.

Thanks for making these available.

You talk too fast in this video. I struggled and paused it A LOT. In addition in following your directions, I found I had 3 panels. Two were empty. Before seeing the end, I tried to delete one in the tree and wiped everything out. I think this ought to be separated into two videos, one in which you discuss the controls available, and then one where you actually do the changes to the program. Either that or one video where you first go over all the controls and then set about doing the changes. Also slow down your speech on this one, it is a bit heavier going and requires a bit of time to follow. (I am not just listening, I am trying to do it all in the program).

Thanks,

John

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.

Kudos and Thanks for cmpython
