Thanks, very useful tutorial.

My only suggestion is to improve the audio quality of the tutorial itself ( strange in a tutorial on removing noise would itself include noticeable noise)

oooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh God. I wasted priceless time doing this noise removal manually (with fade ins and fade outs). I never immagined it actually worked!

Lesson learned.

Thanks for the tut.

Review of Removing Noise With Audacity

Audacity 1.3 Noise Removal - I was disappointed that you did not go into a little technical detail about what the noise removal sliders are 'doing'.

Best to report any bugs to Audacity. What did the error say & what file type were you editing? I have had no problems with Waves & MP3s. Check the system requirements http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/beta_windows

This is my computer:

32 bit, XP Home Ver. 2002 with SP2

1.83 GHz possessor, 1.00 GB of RAM

Tried following the video with both Audacity 1.3.4-beta and Audacity 1.3.4-beta(unicode). Both generate an error after clicking the [get noise profile] with a pop-up error message. Exiting that message box closes the program.

I thought maybe my computer went wrong, so I tried another one. Same thing. I am unable to do any noise removal with both versions.

Both computers run Window XP+SP2.

I am able to follow the video tutor with the older version, Audacity 1.2.6. But, as Rede mentioned, it won't really help much.

Great minds think alike I've just made a video on using the envelope tool. Nice video I shall be using this info in my next project

Very cool, I didn't know how to do that with Audacity. The process looks very simple too, thanks for demoing it!

Ian.

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.

Kudos and Thanks for Rede
