Install nosetests using a 1 line easy_install command. Nosetests gives us robust unit-testing and is used in many videos in ShowMeDo. There is also a video for installing easy_install which will set you up for this video. There are some further notes in the wiki.

Looks easy enough. I will give it a try in a few minutes.

Great thanks!

nosetest seems important enough to be integrated with the PyDev/Eclispe IDE rather than run in a separate CommandShell window. Do you know whether that's a future wishlist feature request for PyDev/nosey? Thanks again.

It would be helpful if you talked more about setuptools and how to install nose without easyinstall.

(Download the Current Version, untar/unzip and run "python install" .

Really love the easy_install module in Python a lot like apt-get for unix/linux ; makes installing new plugins a breeze! :- )

Terrific! Earlier today I watched the video on unittests. I just now used easy_install to get nose, and then successfully used it to run the 2 unittests I'd made earilier.

Agree with Richard above. I tried looking for nosetests previously, albeit unsuccessfully!

This vid makes it look damn simple. Keep those videos coming Ian!

You are very welcome Richard :-)

Thanks, looks always a lot easier after watching one of your video.

Video published, thanks for contributing to ShowMeDo

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.

Kudos and Thanks for Ian
