Thanks for your detailed descriptions of Scribus. As a noob in DTP and Scribus, I very much appreciate the effort you have put into making this software more accessible and less bewildering.

Thanks for levelling out that learning curve!

quite good, helped me a lot

Dai! This tutorial was excellent! I am so glad that I found it. I have a couple of questions...

-Scribus supports CMYK, is there a way to set it up as so in the Preferences?

-do you know of any programs that will convert pictures to 300dpi and also the pictures from RGB to CMYK?

I will refer to this Scribus tutorial often :-)

Okay okay. Relaxed pace is nice.

WOuld appreciate a bit more tempo which could be "overview= tell me what you're going to tell me." I'm still wondering what the target document is going to be like

Thanks so much. Very nice resource for me as I am new to the software. Just getting my feet wet over the last few days of 09 and your tutorial really gave me a head-start. Thanks again.

As I get more accomplished in Scribus I would like to do the same for others. How did you make your tutorial video?

Very good screencast tutorial. I am confused by the use of the word template, as I am under the impression that templates different than master pages in Scribus. I can't seem to figure out how to use templates at all.

needs to be broken up over two videos. too much information to really lean.

Thanks, this is just what I needed to make a template for my knit and crochet patterns. I'm a bit of a technophobe and your videos are a huge blessing to me in figuring out and using scribus. I've watched several, and every one is useful and clear.

Love your videos,

I recognize your voice from one I've watched before. You have the perfect voice for this stuff it's like audible honey. I could listen to you for hours.

Thank you

This is cool, one of the few things I have seen on Scribus to which I am fairly new. I would like to be able to download the video to show to interested and/or new Scribus users.

Yeah, I have grown to be a great fan of your work. It's a true help

Thanks, this will surely proof useful!

Wow - that's a super-long Scribus tutorial - 25 minutes of template goodness! Very nicely done Dai.

One suggestion - expanding your text description with more text (2 paragraphs?) telling the user all the steps you go through would help prospective watchers and Google and that'll get you more viewers.

Cheers,

Ian.

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.

Kudos and Thanks for Dai
