10x

Thanks for a great way to get started. Creating such videos takes time and organisation and to volunteer is very admirable. Well done.

Thanks so much for your tutorial!

Good, short and focused.

Would be nice if you went on to do one where you covered some more advanced report formatting.

Thanks, this report video was nicely paced and very clear.

excellent. like to see a lesson on creating an address label sheet report

Great demos for Openoffice Base. Thanks!

It is far simpler than I thought to get the basic report. There are other things a report can do, e.r. calculations, which would be nice to see a video on as a second in a series. Thank you for your work.

An excellent basic description of report builder.

I would love to see a similar one using the later Sun Report Builder, particularly including how to use graphics as a background (if it can be done)

Best Regards

Pete

Excellent tutorials!

I learned a lot that I wasn't picking up from the help files.

Thanks for all you efforts!

I watched almost all of your videos about using Base. They were very, very helpful! Thank you for making them.

Actually, for once, this was exactly what I was looking for. I am desperate to escape MS but need to know if I can replicate Visual Fox Pro in Linux. There are a number of things I need to see working before I switch, and this was one of them. Now, what's this Python thing?

Thanks for the help. But I have a question how do I get rid of the junk at the top and bottom. I don't want page numbers or author and date wasting space.

Very helpful tutorial. I've learned a lot for your efforts. This will not be put in vain. Extend my heartfelt thanks.

i just sat through your video on open office data base. I'll be back to try and apply what you have shown. I have been using a dos data base written about 27years ago and can dance pretty well with it. It was not a relational base and i have need to add the same data (name, account# ... over and over again. I look forward to being able to enter my data once and have it on all the forms need for my business. Thanks for the video and seemingly simple explination of open office.

Great work, mate. Much appreciated.

Do you plan to update for 3.0? Especially on reports with images (w Sun report builder)? Very helpful becuase it doesn't target to cover all but helps with the fundamentals and the tricky things...

Dai, Great Start to a basic Database. It would be ggood to have further examples of different Databases with different functionality in a step wise tutorial like this one. The next step is of course taking the Tutorial to a greater & greater depth, explaining the reasons you would choose a certain parameter vs another and the reasoning behind the choice. More basic examples then more depth.

Thanks for a great site. I have bookmarked it and will be coming back to it.

I like your style. Its just like sitting across the table from you.

A Comment not criticism- an explanation of why relations are established would help

Review of Creating a Report

Thank you Dai, I do appreciate you shared your knowledge to us, these videos are very clear and will be useful for me to create my own DB's with OpenOffice.org.

Best regards,

Adan.

Review of Creating a Report

Thanks that was helpful. I would really like to see a lesson on how to calculate & print totals (as in financial reports and/or invoices). I believe that would be a very useful 'realj-world' example. Thanks.

Hardly knew where to start with OO Base.

Now I do. :-) Excellent! Thanks!

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.

Kudos and Thanks for Dai
