This video clip was a great, great help. So straightforward when you can see someone actually do it instead of just reading some documentation. Thanks for doing these!

Very clear learnt a lot in a short space of time

Hi,

Nice Kexi Combo Box tutorial.

Does Kexi have the ability to specify a fixed item list for the combo box? From what I've seen, it's isting all the distinct field values.

Barry

The videos are very interesting, I don't speak English very good but your voice is easy to understand as your explanation is too.

Thanks at lot, because I'm affraid I need a lot of help. Keep working on OpenOffice.Org Base. Thanks again

Very helpful - thank you. If you are looking for specific areas for comment - I'd say that the switches between Design and Edit views are a little confusing. Perhaps it needs a quick summary at the end along the lines "in Design you do A B & C. in Edit you do X y & Z"

Regards

As a beginner with Base, I've been searching for days for tutorials and have plowed through several already. This series is the best I've found yet. Thank you!

35. anonymous Fri, 06 Nov 2009 03:01

Really keen to see the rest of the combo box tute however this feedback form is still popping up so I guess I'll just have to skip the rest of it. Definately a shame considering all the effort you've gone to to make this video!

34. anonymous Fri, 06 Nov 2009 02:57

This is

great stuff Dai. Now if I could only get this feedback box to stop popping up at the same place in the video:)

33. anonymous Fri, 06 Nov 2009 02:53

30. anonymous Sun, 25 Oct 2009 19:12

Thank you, good stuff. But... what if the data to be entered was a list such as the persons who were to attend the meeting or a list of phone numbers. I can create the tables but cant get the boxes to create the list so how is this done?

29. anonymous Sun, 16 Aug 2009 06:35

Not bad - combobox sounds like it could be a powerful control.

28. anonymous Tue, 11 Aug 2009 19:46

Great! I've spent days looking for tutorials that don't assume the user is a programmer. Thanks for your straight forward and simple approach.

27. anonymous Wed, 15 Jul 2009 01:22

Great work, very informative! Just wish the sound was a little better. Much noise (maybe from camera?). Thanks!!

26. anonymous Sat, 11 Jul 2009 09:00

I managed to get the List / Combo box figured out using your tutorial and A getting started manual for Base downloaded from the Open Office website. The one thing I'm not clear on is why I need to create another Table just to validate info entered into a field. It seems to me between the List Entries and / or List Content boxes in the Properties Dialog box for the field control, I should be able to make specific entries that I want the user to choose from. I couldn't find any documentation on how to make multiple entries. I could get my entry to display in a List Box but no matter how I delimited additional entry options it would just appear as one string of text.

Good Module..

13. anonymous Thu, 01 Jan 2009 17:00

I can't get the combo box to work following this tutorial. I'm sure the problem is that the previous tutorials describe appointments/types and then creating a relationships. This tutorial suddenly leaps to towns/locations - and if you follow the tutorial all you get is either numbers diplayed or the correct appointment types, but they won't save, Whats missing - banging my head!!

This is a very helpful serries. Easy to use, and enjoyable to watch. A worthwhile learning tool. Thanks for doing this.

11. anonymous Wed, 19 Nov 2008 18:40

author spend most of the time to resize and changing color, only spend 30 seconds to talk about the "wizzard" only.... it is useless from my point of view but I will say thank you for author's effort anyway.

Review of Adding a Combo Box

For a long time I was looking for a good guide of how to create a combo box. I was so used to the Excel spreadsheet that I had a hard time to understand the open Office manual. I am very happy now. Thank you and hopefully you keep up doing this.

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.

Kudos and Thanks for Dai
