yes it helped thanks

Dai, I quite agree! Go go go Open-Source documentation. The open-src world lacks good docs across the board, tutorials like yours *really* help.

Keep it up,

I look at it like this. Opensource is usually very poor when it comes to documentation books or tutorials (apart from the most popular stuff)so any help is always welcome. I intend to help where i can. Not many books on OpenOffice campared to Ms Office so a few tutes don't go a miss.

I'm sure Dai's made of stronger stuff! Showmedo's focus right now is definitely techy - Ian and myself are conscripts. Great thing about a good compression tool is that you can zip anything! For the purposes of demonstration what's being zipped matters not a jot. 7zip is a fantastic tool which any self-respecting tech should be aware of; it knocks winzip down flat. We use it to run ShowMeDo. So apologies for hurting anybody but your criticism is a bit beside the point.

Cake Making, Knitting... are we digressing ?....

I was of the opinion that this site is for technolgy related learning particularly, Python and other open source platforms.

Apologies if I hurt anybody.

Showmedo is a peer-produced video-tutorials and screencasts site for free and open-source software (FOSS)- with the exception of some club videos, the large majority are free to watch and download.

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.

Kudos and Thanks for Dai
