Excellent series, I have already learned a great deal and just getting started. Years ago I attempted to learn Python from a book, but progress was slow, and Python was not a requirement for my job, so it was put on the back burner. This past week I was speaking with a friend about how he learns programming languages and he suggested some of the sites he uses, (non-Python related). After doing some browsing, I decided to see what may be available for Python and stumbled upon your training videos. I was hooked by the second video. Of the videos I have seen, yours are more professional in appearance, focused, and to the point.

While I thought the book I was using was good, your videos show much more with regards to using the tools and other useful links. For instance the book I used , circa 2006, the index referenced ‘debugging’ for less than 10 pages, with no mention of PyDev or the Eclipse editor. In fact it states the 'string format operator' is a useful debugging tool, while that may be true, what I have just learned in this video is far superior.

Excellent job. Clear, concise, straight-forward. Speech could be a bit clearer. Also, for completeness, it might be nice to show how the PATH is added (in the same video) or state more clearly that PATH is important and that a separate video explains it.

Sounds good up front. I want to use this to run a distance model --from sample plot points (dependant point in the math equation)--over imagery and 'unweight' more distant pixels, say with a gaussian filter. Similar to inverse distance weighting but with (i dont completeley understand) --an adptive search grid or kernel over the image. Its a saptial thing if you will.

The video was well presented and I actually find myself learning the concepts of general GUI development faster than I expected. Also I'm wanting to create a simple address book application that stores information in a small SQLite database. I look forward to the next presentations.

The economic downturn has been hard on the library and as a result we are looking for alternatives to the MS proprietary solutions. OO seems to be a good fit for both patrons and staff. Nice clear video - not quite what I was looking for but very useful nonetheless.

This series has sparked my interest, which brings me to the fact that a image sizer wasn't created for the image viewer.

In which case I am now working on an image sizer that will sense the size of the image uploaded and if it is bigger than a set default it will resize the image to that default. You can then resize the image to your liking using a Image > Resize > 10% - 100% MenuBar option.

Would I be allowed to post a video or two explaining how to make that once it's done?

I am a newbie when it comes to command line input, am finding these videos beneficial as preparing me to set-up A.P.A. 6 formatting for my word documents for my college research papers. I made the switch to Linux Ubuntu from windows 7 and now find myself unable to find A.P.A. referencing software due to the change.

This is a good first introduction - but it would be great to also talk about the benefits and user base of python.

I keep teetering back and forth between whether or not I want to dive into expanding my computer knowledge to the programming level. I'd keep reading reddit comments in great detail that were far over my head, but still interesting. This encouraged me to actually try out python, and hopefully move to an advanced level with it.
