In this episode I talk about the basics of vector math as it applies to 3D programming. I'll be using vector math to properly position the cylinders as bonds in the next episode.

thank you for you video, I am a CAD operator and wish I saw this video years ago when I took Dynamics, I and trying to write a program for 2d top view of a box 6,4,5 and just getting a little overwelmed. thank you again.


Damn good video. A month of high school math revised in 5 min.

Great video ;). I like your diagram about what happens when you get no feedback. And your image kind of looks like Ron Weasley's father from the Harry Potter series.

That is really off topic though, The video was very easy to follow, I only have one suggestion: Talk a little louder and don't say "uhh", "umm" as much. It will make for a better presentation ;).

You should do C++ too :D.

Hi, nice video. You should probably instantiate the a, b vectors that you used in your tutorial as vectors themselves and also overload the operators in the vector class, this will give you the following flexibility:

a = Vector(3,1,0)

b = Vector(1,5,0)

c = a + b

c = a - b

c = a * b

c = a / b

c = a.mag()

c = a.norm()

and so on...

you can overload the operators with the following syntax:

def __add__(self,input):

return [self.x + input.x , self.y + input.y......]

def __sub__(self,input):

def __mul__(self,input):

def __div__(self.input):

This way, you don't need to create your v as a vector class.

Review of Vector Math for 3D Programming

I stumbled across this using a search online. I really enjoyed it. It would be wonderful if you have the chance to cover the different topics of math pertaining to 3d programming.
