I am in the process of migrating a number of my MS access projects to linux, and I really needed a database that works in that platform. I do not want to continue feeding redmond. So I am working on this side of the farm to find out things.

Very useful. Whilst I am the type of person who 'reads the manual', a video, however brief, does help when it comes to installing a program and getting it to operate. Keep up the good work.

When I import or get text from a previously prepared multi-paged document it only loads into the first of the scribus pages. How do I get it into the susequent scribus pages? Is there a tutorial that explains this? Which one?

Prior to leaving the PC world, I was a huge fan of Publisher. I now operate on a Mac and have to use Parallels Desktop to use Publisher. This is very time consuming, because it operates much slower. My hope was to have the school district purchase CS4 Standard--expensive. The IT director told me about Scribus--free, and decided to view what this program does. It looks easy enough and the beginning video was easy to understand. Thanks.

Hello - your Scribus Tutorial series by Dai has been a tremendous help to me, but I have a problem. Having put page numbers successfully on all the pages of a 48-page booklet, most of them are now covered up because I have put coloured overlays etc. on many of the pages. What can I do about this please? Is there a way of getting the page numbers to show through the coloured backgrounds?

Also is there a forum I could join in which I can ask this kind of question and/or find answers about producing a magazine in Scribus?

I think he made an honest effort. He seems to care about what he's doing. Probably more detailed than the stateside 20 somethings. Also refreshed my memory to click the file and choose 7 zip there. So he did it. Saw an article in Wall Street Journal about difficulties of businesses saving and transmitting job how to's to the next generation. Also saw a software tester comment that most of what he tested was not so good. So it's hard to be an effective teacher

Thank you, good stuff. But... what if the data to be entered was a list such as the persons who were to attend the meeting or a list of phone numbers. I can create the tables but cant get the boxes to create the list so how is this done?

I think it would be useful to know why you choose the Types and ID as the fields to relate as opposed to say Date and ID. Also the 1 to Many relationship, how is that determined and can that be edited here to '1 to 1', or 'Many to Many'? I ask because I have not found the answeres elsewhere and really would like to know

Many thanks - finally arrived at this site having wasted two days as a beginner with Scribus and failing to get "lift off". I would advise other newcomers to avoid attempting to import any OpenOffice formatted text documents. Just save as plain text and do all the formatting in Scribus. Imports just didn't work for me in a combination of Ubuntu and Version 1.3.5. Excellent tutorials and nicely paced.

Good so far! oobase has had me, as a basic user, completely baffled. I use PCLinuxOS and kept getting a runtime java error. I think I finally got that figured out - only needed to fill in a selection bubble! At any rate, on to figure out... what "registering" a database means, where the heck to save it to... etc. Love the verbal and video walk through, but will still take me a while. I used to use MSWorks years ago and it was so simple... I'll have to adapt! Thanks

A pretty good (best I've seen so far) introduction to Base. My prior attempts had me asleep before getting through table design. I was a decent command line database crater and user but the logic of Access and Base had stymied me. I think I understand it well enough to get started.
