Okay, I'm sorry but this is not clear on how he got the list of types. Also, when I do the same steps to create a list box, when he links the field he get a drop down icon... I don't. I went over the steps to see if I missed anything. Something is missing in this tutorial.

Great job Dai,

Quite impressive for an 'ordinary guy'. I'm just at #6 but its a great way to introduce yourself quickly to a software. I like the fact that you've broken down every video in small bits. Maybe you should add an advanced version of each of the topic.

after the drop down box is it possible to auto magical fill other fields. for example id like to create an invoice form that includes information from a contact table, inventory table. I'd like to use a drop down to select the customers name and have ooBase auto fill the address, phone number, etc.. any help would be greatly appreciated

Went a little fast, will have to watch it again.

Great video, very helpful.

You have helped a lot, there does not seem to be a lot of easy info on the net re Base.

I'm having some difficulty formatting in reports i.e. making the numbers into currency I have been able to turn the numbers into $ currency but not £. Here's hoping you could make another Movie about Functions(especially currency in Base.

Thanks again David

Thank you very much ..... you have saved me many hours of googling!!

REally appreciate your doing this. I will be importing data from a spreadsheet, so I have questions you don't address, but it is helpful to know how to set up these parts of the database.

Thanks

He is saying how to do things...but not defining what the things are he's doing... It's hard to comment clearly as I do not understand the larger picture yet. as such, had this comment box not shown up, I would reserve my judgment until I see more.

Also - I did not see how to download the sample database from googlegroups. I could see it, but clicking gave a screen of garble. I'll try again with Opera 10.06 later - am using firefox 3.6.6 on Ubuntu 10.04 currently.

Excellent! After fruitlessly reading 3 blogs and watching 2 vids, this one did the trick. Very well done. Thanks!

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.

Kudos and Thanks for Dai
