Do you have a VBScript script or something similar (DOS Batch, PowerShell, ext) that completely automates the Open Office Write Mail-merge process?

He's a VBScript scitpt I use to do the same for MS Word-Mail-Merge. I am looking for a scipt that I can use with Open Office Write Mail-Merge.

'This is an example of how to invoke the script form a DOS command prompt.

'C:\MailMerge>wscript runmailmerge.vbs "C:\MailMerge\" "AutomateMailMerge.dotx" "C:\MailMergeData\" "MergeData.txt"

Dim objApp, objDoc, argObj, strTemplatePath, strTemplate, strDataSourcePath, strDataSource

Set argObj = WScript.Arguments

strTemplatePath = ArgObj(0)

strTemplate = ArgObj(1)

strDataSourcePath = ArgObj(2)

strDataSource = ArgObj(3)

'This message box is used to debug with!

'msgbox "Variable 1=" & strTemplatePath & " Variable 2=" & strTemplate & " Variable 3=" & strDataSourcePath & " Variable 4=" & strDataSource

Set objApp = CreateObject("Word.Application")

Set objDoc = objApp.Documents.Open(strTemplatePath & strTemplate)

objDoc.MailMerge.OpenDataSource strDataSourcePath & strDataSource

objDoc.MailMerge.SuppressBlankLines = True

objDoc.MailMerge.Execute

objApp.Visible = True

objDoc.Close wdDoNotSaveChanges

Set objDoc = Nothing

Set objApp = Nothing

set ArgObj = Nothing

Educating the Open-source Community With Showmedo

Although as important as the software it supports, education and documentation are relatively neglected in the Open-source world. Coders love to code, and explaining how best to use or improve the software tends to be deferred or even sidelined.

At Showmedo we believe the community can play a vital role here and also say thanks for the tools and software that make our lives easier. If you have a piece of software you love or a programming langugage you are enthusiastic about, why not make a screencast showing others how to use it? All the stuff you wish you'd been told, the tips, tricks, insights that would have saved you time and frustration.

Screencasting is easier than you think, and we're happy to help you. You can emailus for advice or just use some of the how-to screencasts on the site. This screencasting learning-pathis a good place to start.
